About Me
João Pedro Silva is from Itabuna-Bahia, Brazil. He has always been passionate about dancing and began his formal training at the Ballare Studio of Dance, with hip hop and tap dance at the age of 12. A year later, he also started training in ballet and developed a deep love for the art. João has participated in national and international dance competitions, including the American Dance Competition, where he received numerous scholarships to move to the United States. Currently, he is working with Collage Dance Collective, one of the leading dance companies in the USA, located in Memphis, TN.

This is Joao's fourth season with Collage Dance Collective. He has performed in many roles, such as Prodigal Son by Balanchine, Gnawa by Nacho Duato, Dougla by Geoffrey Holder and Chroma by Wayne McGregor. Joao has had the opportunity to work with choreographers like Kevin Iega, Amy Hall Garner, Durante Verzola, and Christopher Huggins.
At 17, Joao moved to the United States to study at the Miami City Ballet School, where he had the opportunity to perform in ballets such as Serenade by Balanchine. After a few months at the school, he made his debut performance with the company in A Midsummer Night’s Dream. In 2019, he also performed in Firebird by Balanchine with the company.
After one year of training at the Dance School Alice Arja in Rio de Janeiro, Joao got an apprenticeship with the Cia of Ballet from Rio de Janeiro. During his time there, he performed many principal and soloist roles in ballets, including A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and Carnival of the Animals.
